Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future
Founded in 1984 in the culturally rich city of Baroda, Heritage Trust was born out of a shared vision among a group of passionate architects, artists, art historians, archaeologists, historians, museologists, and writers. United by a common goal—to safeguard the city’s diverse heritage—the Trust has since been at the forefront of conservation efforts in Vadodara and beyond.
Our primary mission is to create awareness about heritage and its multifaceted significance—be it architectural, cultural, historical, or ecological. While our focus has always remained rooted in the city of Baroda, we made one remarkable exception: the Champaner-Pavagadh initiative.
Located 40 kilometers from Baroda, Champaner-Pavagadh was once a flourishing medieval capital of Gujarat, yet it faced alarming neglect and ecological threat due to over a hundred operating stone quarries in its vicinity. Recognizing the site’s invaluable historical and cultural worth, the Trust committed nearly two decades to its preservation.
It is with immense pride that we share one of our most significant accomplishments: In 2004, Champaner-Pavagadh was officially recognized as India’s nomination for UNESCO World Heritage Site status, a testament to the Trust’s unwavering efforts and dedication.
Today, Heritage Trust continues its work as a registered charitable organization with the Charity Commissioner and holds tax exemption status under Section 80(G) of the Income Tax Act. With every initiative, we aim to preserve the legacy of the past while inspiring future generations to value and protect their heritage.
